About the program
Do I need to speak perfect English to apply?+
Working proficiency is enough for most roles. If your level is close, we support you before the interview process. The consular interview is in English, and most employers conduct interviews in English.
How long does the full process take?+
For engineers, typically 2-4 months from signed offer to arrival in the US. The selection phase (interviews) is 3-6 weeks. The visa phase depends on consular appointment availability at CDMX / Juárez / Guadalajara (TN) or Santiago (H-1B1).
Do I have to move immediately or is there time to plan?+
There's time. Once you sign the offer, we plan the moving dates together considering your visa, current commitments and start date. Most plan with 6-12 weeks in advance.
For me · I'm from Mexico
What's my visa?+
TN visa under the USMCA treaty · no annual cap, renewable every 3 years indefinitely. Your spouse and children can accompany you with a TD visa.
Which consulate should I use?+
TN engineers process at US consulates in CDMX, Ciudad Juárez or Guadalajara. Port-of-entry TN filing is possible for some roles but Consular processing gives more predictability and paper trail.
Are my licenciatura + cédula profesional enough?+
Yes. The licenciatura is the primary requirement. Cédula profesional is recommended (strengthens the case). For roles that require specialized engineering, we ensure your OOH alignment is airtight.
For me · I'm from Chile
What's my visa?+
H-1B1 visa · designed specifically for Chilean professionals. 1,400 slots per year (rarely exhausted), renewable indefinitely, allows your spouse and children with H-4.
Is the LCA a bottleneck?+
The LCA (Labor Condition Application) is filed by the employer with DOL. It typically clears in 7 business days. Not a blocker for most cases.
Is my engineering degree from a Chilean university valid?+
Yes. Chilean engineering programs (Civil Industrial, Eléctrica, Informática, etc.) are recognized as equivalent to US bachelor's or higher. For some cases we prepare a formal credential evaluation, but it's not always required.
About positioning
My title is 'technician' or 'installer' — can I still qualify?+
Your title on paper matters less than your actual duties. If your day-to-day involves engineering principles, systems analysis, integration or optimization, we structure the position accordingly. TN and H-1B1 require Professional occupations · we make sure your role qualifies.
Which engineering categories work best for TN?+
Electrical Engineer, Industrial Engineer, Mechanical Engineer, Chemical Engineer, Civil Engineer and Computer Engineer are all TN-eligible. We map your background to the best category for your case.
Can I switch employers on a TN?+
Yes, but a new TN letter and application are required for each new employer. TN is employer-specific.
About the job and the US
How much does an engineer earn in the US?+
Base salary $85,000 - $120,000 USD/year depending on role, seniority, location and industry. Senior engineers, ML/AI, systems architects and specialized roles can exceed this range. Plus benefits, bonuses and equity when applicable.
Which industries hire through Global Hire?+
Manufacturing, industrial automation, IoT, semiconductors, energy, aerospace, software · we work with engineering roles across sectors.
Can I bring my family?+
Yes. TN allows spouse and children with TD visas. H-1B1 allows spouse and children with H-4 visas. We help you start that process in parallel.
Is there an option to stay permanently?+
Yes, via EB-2 or EB-3 visa · the path to permanent residency (Green Card). Depends on the employer sponsoring you, which is common after demonstrating your professional value.
